Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Location: Richmond, Virginia (Zip: 23298) – Virginia healthcare jobs
• Facility: 600+ bed, Level 1 Trauma Center
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks – travel opportunity
• Start Date: September 29, 2025
• End Date: December 29, 2025
• Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2130-$2190
• Unit: Respiratory Care Services (NICU & PICU)
• Orientation: 16 hours
• First-time travel RRTs welcome!

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of recent Registered Respiratory Therapist experience (NICU/PICU preferred)
• Active RRT credential required
• Valid Virginia or compact state respiratory therapist license (must be in hand at submission)
• BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications required
• EPIC charting experience required
• BSN preferred
• Ability to float within scope as needed
• Two professional references required

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Deliver respiratory care to neonates, infants, pediatrics, and adolescents in NICU and PICU settings
• Attend high-risk deliveries and perform external transports with competency assessment
• Operate advanced ventilators (Servo I required; Puritan Bennett preferred)
• Assist with intubation, extubation, airway management, and mechanical ventilation weaning
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and respond to emergency situations
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in a Level 1 trauma pediatric emergency department
• Document patient care using EPIC electronic health record system
• Complete orientation modules and comply with facility policies (including natural nail policy)
