Our client, a growing federal contractor is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer with an active DoD Secret clearance responsible for supporting enterprise cybersecurity operations through system hardening vulnerability management, security compliance, and remediation activities across Windows and Linux environments. This position ensures systems comply with Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity requirements, Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), and organizational security policies. Cybersecurity Engineer II performs vulnerability assessments, applies security controls, implements corrective actions, and supports continuous monitoring efforts to maintain secure and compliant information systems.Key Responsibilities:- Perform system hardening activities in accordance with DoD security requirements and industry best practices.
- Implement and maintain Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) on servers, workstations, and networked systems.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments using the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) tool.
- Analyze vulnerability scan results and identify required remediation actions.
- Remediate security findings through configuration changes, system updates, and implementation of vendor-issued patches.
- Apply security patches and updates to both Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Support compliance with cybersecurity directives, policies, standards, and security management guidance.
- Maintain documentation related to system security configurations, vulnerability remediation efforts, and compliance activities.
- Collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, and security teams to implement corrective actions and improve security posture.
- Assist with cybersecurity inspections, audits, assessments, and accreditation support activities.
- Support continuous monitoring and risk management efforts to ensure ongoing compliance with security requirements.
- Track, manage, and report vulnerability remediation status to leadership and stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Must be US Citizen due to government requirement
- Must have an active DoD Secret clearance
- Bachelor-s degree in a STEM field or equivalent (add 4 years of Cybersecurity w/o a degree)
- Certification: Must have a current IAT Level II Baseline Certification (Security+ CE, CySA+, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CCNA Security, CND)
- Minimum three (3) years of full-time professional experience performing system hardening and cybersecurity engineering functions, including demonstrated experience in:
- Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) implementation
- Vulnerability assessments utilizing Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS)
- Security management policies, directives, and compliance requirements
- Vulnerability remediation activities
- Applying vendor security patches and updates
- Hardening and securing Linux operating systems
- Hardening and securing Windows operating systems
