Compensation dependent on experience

Position Summary

The Medical Assistant will work in the Horizon Wellness Clinics and will perform selected nursing and administrative support duties.

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent. Prefer Medical Assistant Certification.

Types of Experience

• One year of experience as a medical assistant.

Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of psychiatric/medical medications/treatments.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, preferably behavioral healthcare medical terminology.
• Knowledge of client care such as examination and treatment room procedures.
• Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer client care.
• Knowledge of medical practice.
• Strong computer knowledge.
• Knowledge and experience using an electronic health record (EHR).
• Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and ability to maintain confidentiality of client information.
• Ability to maintain positive working relationships with clients, medical staff and non-medical staff.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in writing.
• Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holidays, etc.) as required.
• Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver’s license. May be called upon to travel to any
• Horizon worksite. Regular attendance at training and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites;
• Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training; includes both verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed.
