Cardiologist (Hampton)
Summary
The Cardiologist will be responsible for consultative services and developing treatment plans for the management of Veterans in outpatient, inpatient, Community Living Center, and emergency department settings. The incumbent will provide evaluations and treatment recommendations regarding patients with cardiovascular conditions.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or licensing requirements may be considered tentatively but cannot be hired until all requirements are fulfilled. Current VA-employed physicians who met the initial appointment requirements are deemed to have met the basic standards.
Basic Requirements:
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may be appointed if qualified citizens are unavailable, per VA Policy.
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved medical school.
- Current, full, and unrestricted medical or surgical license in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
- Residency Training: Completion of an approved residency program leading to eligibility for board certification, approved by the VA or equivalent.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Preferred: Board Certification in Cardiology.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 45 lbs, stand/walk for several hours, perform repetitive bending, and have good vision and hearing, among others.
