Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Location: Martinsville, VA 24112 (Virginia healthcare job)
• Facility: Acute-care hospital – Respiratory Therapy Department
• Assignment Type: Travel respiratory therapist position
• Start Date: August 18, 2025
• End Date: November 17, 2025
• Duration: 13-week contract
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Hours: Every other weekend or as needed
• Float Requirements: May float within a 25-mile radius to other healthcare facilities as needed
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1570 - $1610

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications

• Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification and Virginia state licensure
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NRP/PALS certifications (Healthcare Worker Certification available on-site)
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a Respiratory Therapist in a hospital or clinical setting
• Excellent communication and professional demeanor
• Consent to random drug screening and completion of a criminal background questionnaire
• Ability to provide respiratory care to a diverse patient population (all ages)
• Compliance with hospital dress code (scrubs: any color or pattern; no casual wear)

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality respiratory care and clinical support to patients of all ages in an acute-care hospital environment
• Assess, plan, and implement respiratory therapy interventions in collaboration with the multidisciplinary healthcare team
• Monitor patient progress, adjust respiratory treatments, and document all care provided in the electronic health record
• Float to other hospital units or nearby healthcare facilities as required
• Participate in ongoing education, orientation, and professional development
• Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant working environment according to hospital policies and healthcare regulations
