Operating Engineer
Malace|HR is seeking a skilled and experienced Operating Engineer to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment across various systems. As an Operating Engineer, you will demonstrate technical expertise in one craft area (Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, Central Utility Plant Operations) while being multi-skilled in other areas to complete daily and weekly work assignments efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Repairs:
Perform maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems to ensure all facilities and building systems meet applicable standards.Facility Services and Operations:
Oversee facility services, preventative maintenance programs, purchasing, inventory control, contracted maintenance, and general facility upkeep.HVAC and Equipment Maintenance:
Maintain HVAC systems and associated equipment by cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and replacing parts to ensure optimum performance. Monitor system performance and make necessary adjustments for efficient operation.Safety and Compliance:
Comply with departmental policies regarding the safe storage, use, and disposal of hazardous materials. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to safety procedures and identifying hazards to mitigate risks.Contractor Oversight:
Monitor the quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by external contractors, ensuring work meets company standards.Inventory and Tools Management:
Periodically check and manage tools and instrument inventory to ensure availability and readiness for ongoing maintenance tasks.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent.Experience:
8-10 years of experience in maintaining and repairing commercial building systems, with a strong focus on HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, or Mechanical systems.Technical Expertise:
Ability to analyze the operation of various commercial or industrial systems (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC) and determine the cause of malfunctions, taking corrective action as needed.Certifications:
EPA 608 Type II Certification.Technical Skills:
Proficient in computer applications such as Word and Excel for documentation and reporting purposes.

Two years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration, or HVAC.Additional Skills:
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety.
