Repair Center Technician
The Blackmer Pump Technician evaluates, modifies, repairs, and rebuilds Blackmer pump products. This position will involve approximately 80% Shop and 10% field repair activities, and 10% administrative activities.
What You’ll Do
- Inspects the components of pumps for serviceability. Then rebuilds the pump in the correct configuration according to the drawing.
- Engage with customers and government inspectors by showing proper set-up and use of shop test equipment and how to work the equipment.
- Will show how to document test data and provide data to customers.
- Performs shipping/receiving duties - including constructing shipping boxes, receiving parts, and conducting inventories.
- Operate and maintain an operating license for forklifts.
- Will operate and maintain all shop equipment.
- Maintain a clean and orderly workstation.
- Properly store and dispose of waste/ HAZMAT, scrap metal, IAW local regulations and shop processes.
- Read Government contracts from NAVSUP, USCG.
- Understand drawing requirements for proper paint and primer use IAW customer specifications.
- Create shipping labels for GFM.
- Works overtime as required with advance approval from the manager
- Willing to travel at least 10%
What You’ll Bring
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2 years' experience in pump repair
- Military experience is highly preferred
- Ability to be granted military base access
- Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record
- Must work at a proficient level with all shop processes and procedures
- Working knowledge of all tools and measuring devices required for pump repair
- Ability to read and write in English
- Able to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures or governmental regulations
- Ability to write basic reports and business correspondence
- Effectively communicate by responding to questions from managers, engineers, and other customers
- Ability to understand and apply basic math principles
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Read and interpret drawings of technical information and government contracts.
