Position Title: Project Accountant

Location: Fairfax, VA (On-site)

Assignment Type: Permanent Hire

Compensation: $75,000 – $90,000 (flexible depending on experience)

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Project Accountant to support the financial operations of a well-established organization in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate project financials, ensuring timely billings, and supporting management with critical reporting and analysis. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with hands-on involvement in all aspects of project accounting.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain job cost and revenue records to support accurate monthly accounting closes.
• Prepare monthly client billings using AIA documentation.
• Process approved accounts payable invoices and maintain project-related financial documentation.
• Track and manage subcontractor compliance documents, including COIs, W-9s, and waivers.
• Prepare bi-weekly check runs and assist with cash flow management.
• Identify and report financial risks, discrepancies, or budget issues to management.
• Monitor and collect outstanding receivables to ensure proper cash flow.
• Support process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency within the accounting team.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Management, or Project Management required.
• Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, ideally within the construction or project-based industry.
• Experience with Viewpoint Vista or similar ERP software preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Project.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication and follow-through skills.
