The Position
The Marching Band Assistant is a part-time non-benefitted position that is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the marching band. This includes, but is not limited to, assisting with running rehearsals, administrative tasks, teaching drill coordinates, running sectional rehearsals and assisting the band director in overall show design. The MBA shall attend band camp in August, weekly in-season practices, and band staff meetings. The instructor plays a critical role in rehearsal management and game-day management.
Position serves from August through the academic year, is non-benefitted and works a maximum 125 hours in total.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assists with running rehearsals, administrative task
- Teaching drill coordinates
- Running sectional rehearsals
- Assisting the band director in overall show design
- Attend band camp in August, weekly in-season practices and band staff meetings
- Plays a critical role in rehearsal management and game-day management
Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities :
- Should have extensive background in marching arts.
- Experiences should include performing at a high level as a member of a high school or college marching band.
- Performance experience with DCI or other professional organizations is a plus.
- A music degree and/or experience teaching music is preferred
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, often in the late afternoons, evenings and on weekends.
