LHH Recruitment Solutions is searching for a Staff Accountant for a contract to hire opportunity in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Job Description

The Staff Accountant supports Accounting Department by compiling financial statements, reviewing data, and ensuring financial compliance. Maintains financial records and assisting with the general operations of the accounting department.

Duties:
  • Perform month-end close tasks to complete close in timely, accurate manner
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Perform daily uploads of data into accounting system
  • Research and clear reconciling items on reconciliations
  • Organize, update and secure financial records and documentation
  • Business License renewals
  • Personal Property renewals
  • Fixed Assets and depreciation
  • Payroll processed bi-monthly
  • Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering and sorting documents and related information
  • Assist with wiring of funds as needed
  • Review financial statements for accuracy, and Manager inquiries
  • Assist with preparation and filing of tax returns
  • Assist with Audit tasks and inquiries in a timely, accurate manner
  • Recommend ways to reduce costs and enhance revenue
  • Obtains revenue by verifying transaction information; computing charges and refunds; preparing and mailing invoices; identifying delinquent accounts and insufficient payments
  • Collects revenue by reminding delinquent accounts, notifying customers of insufficient payments
  • Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
  • Maintains accounting ledgers by posting account transactions
  • Verifies accounts by reconciling statements and transactions for efficiency and accuracy
  • Resolves account discrepancies by investigating documentation, issuing stop payments, payments, or adjustments
  • Maintains financial security by following internal accounting controls
  • Maintains financial historical records by filing accounting documents
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results
  • Assist with customer service by answering phones and responding to emails to assist customers
Requirements:
  • At least two years' experience in accounting or a related field with strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to read and analyze financial reports
  • Effective oral and written communication skills needed
  • Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task in high-energy, fast-paced environment and work independently
  • Attention to detail is critical
Hourly pay rate range: $25-30
