Sr. Associate, Loan Closer - Community Finance

Role Summary:
As a Loan Closer, under the direction of management or designee, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth loan closings, directly impacting clients and supporting the success of the Community Finance group. This role involves working on diverse loan transactions, including those with bond components, and requires strong analytical skills to interpret complex credit agreements. You will be instrumental in driving the closing process for a variety of Community Finance loan products, fostering a culture of trust and efficiency in a fast-paced environment. The Senior Associate will drive the loan closing process in support of the underwriter and capital officer groups, including the review of credit approvals, legal documentation, due diligence, and funding & booking mechanics. The ability to learn quickly and to adapt to change are important skills in this role. Additionally, important are effective communication skills, product knowledge & the ability to clearly convey complex concepts and issues in a concise way.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the closing of loans where Capital One is the Lender or Administrative Agent
Serve as the operational point of contact for the group during the pre-closing process
Support loan closings for a variety of products, across various industries including construction loans & letters of credit
Review complex legal documents and commercial loan documents to ensure documentation accurately reflects the intentions of the credit approval, that it complies with bank policies & procedures, industry standards, and is operationally feasible to support. This includes careful review for non-syndicated deals as well, ensuring accuracy against credit approval and compliance with policies
Provide feedback on draft documents pertaining to loan booking and servicing mechanics
Coordinate the completion of pre-closing requirements with internal & external clients (underwriters, borrowers, lenders, and legal counsel)
Collection and review of third-party reports (appraisals, environmental, Plan and Cost), & commercial insurance in consultation with real estate & insurance specialists
Resolve issues that might impede closing and use judgment to involve the manager and internal partners when required
Execute loan closing, funding & booking activities in ACBS in collaboration with all parties
Execute and/or review of Transaction Summary Forms, wire set-up/approval and new deal bookings
Monitor and prompt resolution of exception reporting and cash reconciliation outages
Create or assist in drafting of operational incident reports, partnering with Commercial Risk on root cause analysis, remediation and prevention
Effectively communicate deal information & coordinate hand-offs to the life-of-loan servicing team
Compile collateral package & route to Collateral Monitoring group
Coordinate the closing of ongoing amendments as the Administrative Agent
Additional tasks include the reconciliation of cash breaks & fee income, generation of reports & metrics, and testing of process & system enhancements
Develop, design and follow inter-departmental controls and risk reducing processes
Ensure Know Your Customer “KYC” requirements have been met prior to closing a transaction
Complete post-closing activities to ensure that all necessary documentation is received by downstream partners
Basic Qualifications:
At least 3 years of experience in loan operations, loan closing, construction management, or any combination of the three
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or military experience
3+ years of experience with Commercial Loan Booking or Commercial Loan Servicing
1+ years of experience working with ACBS
Proficiency with Microsoft and Google products
Experience with Excel VBA and JavaScript
Strong communication skills

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Richmond, VA: $64,700 - $73,900 for Process Manager New York, NY: $77,700 - $88,600 for Process Manager McLean, VA: $71,200 - $81,300 for Process Manager
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
