Seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel nursing assignment in Christiansburg, VA. Compensation

• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1680-$1730 per week

• Job Title: Travel Behavioral Health RN (Psychiatric Nurse)
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (travel nursing contract)
• Location: Christiansburg, VA 24073 (New River Valley, Virginia)
• Facility Setting: Inpatient Mental Health Unit (36-bed capacity)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 10/13/2025 – End: 1/12/2026)
• Shifts: 3x12-hour day shifts (06:45 – 19:15); 4x12 available upon request
• Weekly Hours: 36
• Patient Ratios: 1:6-7 (7A-11P), 1:10 (11P-7A)
• Floating: May float to Carilion Mental Health - Roanoke (mileage reimbursed at $0.50/mile)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Virginia or compact state
• Minimum 2 years of recent behavioral health or psychiatric nursing experience
• BLS certification (AHA required)
• CPI-Blue certification from Crisis Prevention Institute (must be current or scheduled; only CPI-Blue accepted)
• Epic EMR charting experience required
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Must be able to work at least 1 holiday during the assignment (2 during winter holidays)
• Must reside at least 100 miles from the facility (local candidates not accepted)

Behavioral Health RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to patients in an inpatient psychiatric/behavioral health setting
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Monitor and document patient progress using Epic electronic medical records
• Utilize de-escalation and crisis prevention techniques to ensure patient and staff safety
• Float to affiliated mental health units as needed
• Maintain compliance with facility policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
