Job Title: Construction Laborer
Job Description
This role supports construction and industrial operations by hauling mill waste from the mill to the landfill and performing a wide range of general labor tasks on site. You will work a rotating schedule of 12-hour shifts, contributing to safe, efficient, and clean job sites while operating vehicles and equipment as needed.
Responsibilities
- Haul mill waste safely and efficiently from the mill to the landfill using appropriate vehicles and equipment.
- Perform general construction labor duties, including site preparation, cleanup, and material handling.
- Clean up job sites regularly to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work area.
- Move and stage materials, tools, and equipment as directed to support ongoing construction activities.
- Use power tools and hand tools correctly and safely to complete assigned tasks.
- Assist with digging, trenching, and other earthwork activities as required.
- Drive and operate vehicles and equipment, including dump trucks and other hauling equipment, in accordance with company and regulatory guidelines.
- Support heavy equipment operations by assisting operators and ensuring work areas are clear and properly prepared.
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to site safety rules.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate daily tasks and address issues promptly.
- Work 12-hour shifts in a rotation of 7 days on and 7 days off, maintaining reliability and punctuality.
Essential Skills
- Experience performing general construction labor, including site cleanup and material handling.
- Ability to safely operate power tools and hand tools in a construction environment.
- Capability to perform physically demanding tasks such as digging, lifting, and moving materials for extended periods.
- Driving experience in a construction or industrial setting, including hauling materials or waste.
- Experience with heavy equipment operations (HEO) or working closely with heavy equipment on active job sites.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized job site.
- Willingness and ability to work 12-hour shifts in a 7 days on, 7 days off rotation.
- Reliable transportation to and from the job site and consistent attendance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in construction, industrial, or mill environments.
- Comfort working with a variety of construction tools and equipment.

Work Environment
The role follows a structured schedule of 12 hours on and 12 hours off, working 7 days on and 7 days off, with core operations typically running Monday through Friday and some Saturdays as needed. You work in an active construction and industrial setting, hauling mill waste from the mill to the landfill and supporting heavy equipment operations. The environment involves outdoor and field conditions, exposure to varying weather, and physical tasks such as lifting, digging, and moving materials. You use power tools, hand tools, and various vehicles and equipment, including hauling trucks and heavy equipment. Safety procedures, proper use of equipment, and adherence to site rules are central to daily operations.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Franklin, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
