FACETS is a mission-driven nonprofit organization committed to breaking the cycles of homelessness, poverty, and hunger. We are seeking an experienced Senior Director of Business Management to lead our financial operations and provide strategic guidance as we continue to grow our impact.
Position Summary: The Senior Director of Business Management will serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for all aspects of business and financial management, planning and compliance. This role requires a strategic thinker with hands-on experience managing nonprofit finances, including governmental contracts. The Senior Director of Business Management will ensure financial integrity, optimize resources, and provide data-driven insights to advance organizational goals.
This position serves as the primary liaison and works closely with our contract CFO and external accounting team, holding lead responsibility for the intersection of FACETS programs and accounting functions. Oversees invoice review and approval, program budget and expenditure tracking, and leads financial program reviews. Promotes financial literacy throughout the organization. Manages proposal and grant pricing in collaboration with solution architects and program teams. Serves as the internal lead for the annual budget process, incorporating input from programs, development, and operations. Directs the selection and implementation of business management systems and information systems. Partners with Human Resources to develop and evaluate benefits solutions for both current and future needs. Manages insurance matters, program contracts, and amendments, including risk assessment and file management.

Duties and Responsibilities:Financial Leadership & Strategy:
- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with organizational mission and strategic plan.
- Serve as staff representative to Board Finance Committee and working with contract CFO present and participate in monthly Finance Committee meetings.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
- Lead annual budgeting process and long-range financial planning.
- Monitor financial performance and provide regular reports to leadership and board committees.
Financial and Budget Management:
- Interface with external accounting team on daily routines, including but not limited to invoice review and approval, accounts payable/receivable, credit card payments, payroll and financial reporting. Maintain relationships with vendors and financial institutions.
- Lead interface with contract CFO and accounting team on coordination of annual financial and program audit and 990 preparation and findings resolution.
- Generates, reviews, and analyzes period reports to track and ensure financial well-being of the. organization. Provides relevant financial information to executive management team.
- Creates and maintains a series of financial controls and procedures for the organization.
- Manages overall budget for the agency and provides training to enhance financial literacy at all levels.
Contract & Grant Management:
- Oversee all aspects of contract and grant financial management, including federal, state, and country contracts, foundation grants, and other funding sources.
- Process and reconcile program payables and receivables and ensure financial reporting requirements are met.
- Review and update program contracts and amendments. Maintain well-organized file management.
- Ensures compliance with funder requirements.
- Leads financial aspects of proposal and grant development and budget preparation including the cost. proposal through collaborative efforts with program and operations teams.
- Helps program leads develop and manage direct and indirect budgets.
- Provides regular review and approval of invoices related to contracts.
- Monitors contract and grant performance and execution.
System and Solution Management:
- Streamlines internal business process and implements new policy and procedures as needed.
- Works with IT to optimize resource allocation and drive innovation.
- Partners with HR on benefits solutions.
Risk Management:
- Manages insurance policies and other risk prevention programs to meet compliance requirements.
- Identifies industry trends and assesses external environment to mitigate risk and support sustainable growth.
Leadership:
- Fosters a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Provides leadership across groups, promoting a collaborative and inclusive environment that encourages creativity, learning, and growth while managing multiple stakeholder inputs and driving fast, effective decision making.
- Influence key stakeholders across the organization, building coalitions to advance shared goals and providing strategic process support to executive team on corporate functions as needed.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field, master’s degree preferred.
- 7-10 years of progressive finance, budget, and business management experience.
- Proven experience in nonprofit sector or government contracting with contract and grant management
- Demonstrated success in managing complex, ambiguous projects with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
- Strong track record of building and optimizing operational systems, processes, and teams.
- Outstanding verbal, written, and visual communication skills, with experience presenting to executive audiences.
- Ability to make strategic decisions with incomplete information and manage calculated risks.
- Well-organized work style with focus on both strategic thinking and operational excellence.
- Must pass criminal and Child Protective Services background checks.
Pay Range: $125,000 – $140,000 annually.
