Position Overview

Anchor Innovation, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounts Payable Specialist to join our growing Finance team in Virginia Beach, VA.

Anchor is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) specializing in consulting, management, maintenance, logistics, training, and operations support for the U.S. Department of Defense. We proudly support contract operations and employees across California, Florida, North Carolina, Rhode Island, and Virginia.

As our company continues to grow, we are looking for an organized and dependable accounting professional to support the day-to-day operations of our Finance Department. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the timely and accurate processing of accounts payable, employee expense reports, vendor payments, and other accounting functions while maintaining compliance with company policies and government contracting requirements.

Position Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
• Verify invoices for proper coding, approvals, and supporting documentation.
• Prepare vendor payments for approval and processing.
• Review, reconcile, and process employee expense reports.
• Reconcile corporate credit card statements and supporting documentation.
• Maintain organized accounting records and audit-ready documentation.
• Assist with monthly account reconciliations and month-end closing activities.
• Communicate with vendors regarding invoice questions and payment status.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting procedures, and internal controls.
• Assist with month-end close and other accounting projects as assigned.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of accounts payable or general accounting experience preferred.
• Experience with Deltek Costpoint is strongly preferred.
• Experience working for a government contractor and knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
• Excellent attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of responsibilities and follow issues through to completion.
