The Wealth Management Intern is a temporary non-exempt position, based in the Fredericksburg, VA branch office of Cary Street Partners. The internship offers practical work experience to learn about wealth management, working with clients, and different roles within the industry.

The internship will be 30-40 hours per week.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Duties

• Learn First Clearing custodian software through InfoMax online tutorials and training within the branch to understand its client account management functionality.
• Enter new client accounts and update existing client information in the system.
• Shadow branch personnel to learn how trades, ACH transfers, wire transfers, service requests, and journals are executed.
• Assist in preparation for client meetings and sit in on account reviews.
• Learn process to prepare for an annual review.
• Learn other software programs, such as Black Diamond or Salentica, used to manage client accounts.
• Maintain client files.
• Research stocks.
• Interview client service associates, financial advisors, portfolio managers, and operations personnel to learn about different roles within the firm.
• Review Series SIE and Series 7 Licensing information.
• Participate in special projects, such as client surveys or capital gains projects, as needed.

Skills & Experience

• Business or Finance student pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
• Previous experience working in financial services preferred but not required.
