Shipping and Receiving Clerk

Responsibilities

• Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests and invoices, to verify accuracy.
• Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes.
• Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route materials.
• Address problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications, by conferring or corresponding with establishment representatives.
• Deliver shipment contents to appropriate plant destinations using a forklift and other equipment as needed.
• Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping using hand tools, power tools, or postage meter.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent education and experience
• Skilled in using computer systems
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documentation such as safety rules, work process instructions, memos, etc.
• Ability to follow instructions, accept corrections, contribute ideas, and work well as part of a team.

Job Location and Conditions

Duties are performed primarily in a high-volume manufacturing environment, working with both manual and automated equipment. The work environment may sometimes involve extreme temperatures (heat and cold). Employees are expected to perform work safely in accordance with department safety procedures and operate equipment safely, reporting any unsafe work conditions or practices to the supervisor.
