PCU RN Travel Job Details

• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1910 - $1960
• Assignment Length: 52 weeks (flexible options from 14 to 52 weeks available)
• Start Date: Flexible, as early as August 25, 2025
• Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (18:45 – 07:15)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Healthcare Setting: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Step-down
• Location: Roanoke, VA 24014 (Virginia nursing jobs)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Virginia or compact state)
• At least 1 year of recent experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or step-down nursing role
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (AHA required)
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical records (EMR) required
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Willingness to float to other PCU or Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg) units as needed
• Ability to work at least 1 holiday per 13-week assignment (2 during winter holidays)

PCU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a PCU/step-down setting
• Monitor and manage patients with complex medical conditions, including telemetry, cardiac drips (no titration), and non-invasive airway management
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias, respond to rapid response situations, and administer blood products
• Provide central and peripheral line care; manage tracheostomy and ventilator-dependent patients (non-ICU level)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently using EPIC EMR
• Participate in self-scheduling and float to support patient care needs across PCU and Med-Surg units
