Lead Spark Guide/PreK-1 Teacher

We are searching for a full time Spark Guide (PreK-1 Teacher) to begin mid-August 2020, and work through the 2020-2021 school year. The Spark Guide will Co- Lead with our current Lead Guide five days per week in our mixed age Spark Studio (16-18 learners ages 4-7/ grades PreK-1). \

The Village School, founded in 2018, is a private, learner-driven micro-school with the mission of guiding young people on a journey of self-discovery so that they can find a calling and change the world. We combine elements of the Montessori method with Socratic guiding, hands-on experiential quests and interactive technology. Underlying our method is an application of the Heros Journey, creating a lively learning environment that feels more like an adventure than school.\

The Lead Spark Guide will work with other Village School Guides to:\
Facilitate a customized education experience for each learn in the Spark (PreK-1) studio\
Create a warm, inviting, and stimulating indoor and outdoor environment for learning\
Act as a role model as an independent learner \
Engage in small group or one-on-one guided lessons using Montessori inspired curriculum\
Encourage young learners to set goals and share their learning \
Observe and document learning\

Qualifications:\
A deep curiosity about life and love of lifelong learning\
Patience \
Good observational and communication skills\
Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure\
Passionate about learner-driven, whole child education\
Excellent planning and organizational skills\
Strong relationship building with children ages 4-7\
Customer service and user-centered orientation with the ability to give and receive feedback, meet needs, and get a positive response\
Montessori/Reggio experience a plus (not required)\

This is a position for an independent learner who: can work with little direct guidance, evaluate and continually improve, has a deep respect for all children believing that each human has genius within, and is a flexible problem solver. \

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
