PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Job Title: Locum Tenens PCU Registered Nurse (RN)
• Location: Roanoke, VA 24014 (Virginia healthcare jobs)
• Unit: General Medicine PCU – 8West Unit
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 10/20/2025 – End: 1/19/2026)
• Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (18:45 – 07:15)
• Total Hours: 36 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1910–$1960
• Patient Ratio: 5:1
• Weekend Shifts: 6 per 6-week schedule
• Floating: May float to other PCU or Med-Surg units as needed

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Virginia or compact state)
• At least 1 year of recent PCU or Stepdown RN experience
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Proficient with Epic EMR charting system
• Strong skills in telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, rapid response, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, cardiac drips (no titration), non-invasive airway management, and isolation precautions
• Experience with adult and geriatric patient populations
• Ability to float and adapt to various unit needs
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

PCU RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a high-acuity PCU environment
• Monitor and manage patients with pulmonary and gastrointestinal diagnoses
• Conduct patient assessments, administer medications, and manage cardiac drips
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services
• Accurately document patient care using Epic EMR
• Respond promptly to rapid response situations and deliver appropriate interventions
• Float to other PCU or Med-Surg units as required
• Work at least one holiday per assignment (two during winter holidays)
