Preschool Teacher - Monday/Wednesday/Friday 7:30-2:30 (Hours Adjustable)

St. John's Preschool
Wytheville, VA

Summary

St. John's Preschool is committed to providing quality early education in a nurturing Christian environment where each child can grow and develop intellectually, socially, physically, and spiritually while instilling an enthusiasm for learning and an appreciation for God's diverse creation. We have a dedicated team of teachers and leaders. The preschool provides foundational education and socialization programs for children ages three through five.

This position of Preschool Teacher is an immediate opening that we would like to fill ASAP to allow training/transition time for our students. The teacher position will be working with 2.5-3 year old children to establish a love for learning as they enter their first experience in a classroom environment. Children will learn how to listen to a teacher, play with other children, walk with a group, etc. and many Preschool skills such as coloring, sorting, name recognition, exposure to letters and numbers, gross and fine motor skills, etc. It is the teachers responsibility to create a lesson plan to ensure those needs are met and the skills are learned. It is a very rewarding career, working with children, but it does require patience and compassion. The teacher works under the direct supervision of the Preschool Director. If you feel this is a good fit for you, please apply so we can have a chance to determine if you are a good fit for our school community!

This classroom is already established; helpful things have been prepared in advance to aid in the transition to a new teacher - including lessons, newsletters, attendance list, student gifts, etc for the first month.
The Preschool has its own calendar, but mostly follows the Wythe County School System calendar for class days, holidays, snow days, etc. through the month of May - for a remaining 4 month salaried contract. The working hours for the position are currently 35 hours per week, on Mondays through Fridays between the hours of 7:30am and 2:30pm - with possible adjustment to start and end time if needed.
