We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in Richmond, Virginia. In this Contract-to-Permanent position, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices while maintaining compliance with company policies. Ideal candidates will bring a combination of analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a strong understanding of accounts payable processes.
Responsibilities:• Process and verify invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
• Perform three-way matching to reconcile purchase orders, invoices, and receipts.
• Utilize Excel to conduct basic data analysis, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions.
• Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to resolve discrepancies and inquiries.
• Prepare and execute payment runs, including ACH transfers and check distributions.
• Accurately code invoices to appropriate accounts and cost centers.
• Maintain organized records of accounts payable transactions and documentation.
• Identify and investigate errors, providing solutions to prevent recurring issues.
• Ensure timely processing of payments to avoid late fees or disruptions.
• Assist with system-related tasks, including learning and adapting to company-specific software.• Proven experience in accounts payable or a similar financial role.
• Proficiency in Excel, including basic functions like pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Familiarity with payment methods such as ACH transfers and check runs.
• Knowledge of invoice coding and account reconciliation processes.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to ask questions and investigate errors.
• Experience with accounts payable software; familiarity with Medius or PeopleSoft is a plus.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
