Deputy Director, Competitive Shooting
' 1. Act as the Division's Championships Coordinator, providing continuity among the Departments involved with each Championship event. Recommend courses of action to resolve conflicts either within a specific championship or among championships including the distribution of resources.
2. Develops, staffs and maintains a proactive strategy to be used to promote competitive shooting at clubs and state associations that either have limited programs, restricted shooting activities or no formal activities at all. Annually updates program data to determine new areas for potential growth and assists shooting activity managers with promoting competitive events.
3. Assists the Division Director with the development of the division's annual budget based on approved strategies.
4. Reviews, staffs and maintains a link with recognized amateur shooting organizations, including shotgun, to determine NRA's role and amount of support necessary to promote successfully formal/organized shooting events.
5. Provides assistance to the NRA Media Division relative to the production of marketing/advertising program materials and campaigns.
6. Performs all duties associated with appointment as the Secretary of the NRA Competitive Shooting Committees as assigned.
7. Attend the various competitive events, including but not limited to, National and World Championships to meet with match officials, competitors, present awards and be an official NRA representative to these events.
8. Represents the National Rifle Association and/or the Competitive Shooting Division at special events as directed.
9. Performs duties as a Coordinator/Deputy Coordinator, Director, Officer or other official at NRA Competitive events as assigned.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.SCOPE: High visibility with Competitive Shooting Division staff, competitive shooters who participate in NRA events, recognized amateur shooting organizations, managers in other NRA divisions, key members of NRA affiliated clubs and State Associations, and shooting industry representatives. Position requires frequent local and national travel. Frequent weekend work required. Position functions in a fast-paced work environment with minimal direct supervision. Position requires the ability to lift and carry a maximum of 50 lbs. of materials. Position requires the ability to traverse rough terrain in the performance of duties at competitive shooting events.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Four-year degree preferred. Substantial experience in management, supervision and financial analysis required. National level competitive shooting experience a plus.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Excellent oral and written communications skills required. Demonstrated ability to organize and correlate data essential. Demonstrated ability to organize briefings and deliver presentations essential. Must be a self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills required. Knowledge of the shooting sports essential. Knowledge of competitive shooting rules and rules development essential. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required. Willingness to learn additional software packages required. Proven ability to supervise and motivate support staff essential.
