Landscape Architect/Landscape Designer

Sunrise is a well-established, high-end landscape maintenance and design-build company located in Sterling, VA. We are seeking an experienced individual to join our design team as a Landscape Architect/Landscape Designer. This person must be able to create and sell bespoke landscape designs for residential and commercial properties in the Northern Virginia area. This position is ideal for candidates who have a growth mindset and desire to contribute to a scaling sales environment.

Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Landscape Architect/Landscape Designer to join our vibrant sales department at Sunrise Landscape + Design. You will play a pivotal role in the entire spectrum of landscape design, contributing your expertise from inception to completion.

Key Responsibilities:
Design:

• Perform site analysis that includes gathering information on existing conditions, topography, soil, utilities, sun exposure, drainage, etc.
• Design custom landscape concepts that may include outdoor living areas, planted areas, hardscapes, water features, and covered structures.
• Prepare detailed construction drawings and specifications that adhere to local code and regulatory requirements.

Estimating & Quality Control:

• Prepare take-offs and cost estimates for designs.
• Collaborate internally with production team to ensure the design is functional and executable.
• Effectively communicate estimates, design intent, and plans to the production staff to facilitate installation.
• Perform site visits throughout production to ensure design intent is being met and plans have been followed.

Sales:

• Guide clients from initial contact through the design and construction phases to project completion.
• Meet with incoming leads to develop rapport and understand the client’s needs and expectations.
• Suggest various material options to meet the customer’s budget while maintaining the functional and aesthetic elements of the design.
• Manage client relationships and communicate effectively to understand project needs and expectations.

Qualifications:

• Degree in landscape architecture or design preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in landscape architecture or design.
• Proficiency in design software (Vectorworks, AutoCAD, SketchUp, etc.).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present and explain design concepts clearly.
• Understanding of various landscaping and construction methods.
• Understanding of state and local code requirements.
• Understanding of local plant palette per hardiness zones.
• Strong interpersonal and sales skills.
• Valid driver’s license.
