Cardiac Stress Technician
The Cardiac Stress Technician will work under the direct supervision of site physician, performing various professional and administrative duties related to cardiac stress testing. This includes but not limited to patient preparation, administration of exercise and pharmacological stress tests, and application of BLS measures to patients when directed.
Responsibilities:
- Performs cardiac stress testing (nuclear and non-nuclear) under the supervision of the onsite registered nurse and physician.
- Duties include: clinical chart preparation; vital signs; EKG performance and monitoring during stress testing, reviews current medication list, past medical history, social history, and review of systems.
- Applies heart monitors and instructs patients on their use.
- Enters data in the EMR.
- Provides patient education.
- Other activities and responsibilities as directed.
Job Requirements:
- HS Diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology/Science or related major OR successful completion of a Cardiac Technician course
- Strong 12-lead ECG interpretation skills
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
- Computer literate; prior experience with the use of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) preferred
- Prior experience in a clinical position; cardiology field preferred
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal and patient care skills
- Must have the ability to work as a team with coworkers and providers
