We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Lead – Database to oversee enterprise data architecture, modernization, and transformation initiatives for federal IT programs. This role focuses on decomposing legacy, monolithic database systems into modular, domain-driven designs aligned with modern engineering practices Key Responsibilities:
- Lead database strategy, modernization, and architectural redesign efforts.
- Guide teams in decomposing monolithic databases into modular, domain-aligned schemas.
- Collaborate with application, QA, cloud, and O&M teams to support integrated modernization.
- Define and enforce data governance, security, and performance optimization standards.
- Support cloud migration initiatives (AWS preferred) and database re-platforming.
- Conduct data modelling, schema design, tuning, and lifecycle management.
- Provide technical leadership for federal compliance requirements, security controls, and audits.
- 5+ years of leadership experience in database engineering or data architecture.
- 3+ years supporting federal IT programs of comparable scale.
- Expertise in relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, DynamoDB).
- Proven experience with enterprise database modernization and cloud-native data services.
- Strong background in data modelling, ETL, optimization, and database security.
- Relevant certifications preferred: AWS, Database Admin/Architect certifications.
