Registered Nurse (RN) Critical Care Float Pool

Registered Nurse (RN) Float Pool Job Responsibilities
- Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple sometimes conflicting data sets and synthesizing their interrelationships
- Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice
- Supports and empowers patient/families as they progress through the healthcare continuum from health promotion to end of life decisions
- Advocates for patients rights from the patient/family perspective while providing counsel and acting as a resource to resolve issues
- Anticipates ethical spiritual and cultural needs of patients and intervenes to maximize patient outcomes and coordinates healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning
- Documents all patient care activities as per documentation standards and assists healthcare team members with documentation
- Evaluates the outcomes of documentation and contributes to related performance improvement initiatives
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and leads other disciplines to meet desired outcomes
- Acts as a clinical resource and serves as a mentor to healthcare team members
- Demonstrates evidence of self-development by obtaining a minimum of six formal contact hours and maintains own Team Member Continuing Education Record
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Bachelors Degree in Nursing
- If RNs have an Associates Degree within 2 years of hire they must meet with their nurse leader and conduct the following: 1. Identify which school they plan to attend 2. Provide a written plan with anticipated BSN completion; 3. Submit a review of transcripts from the school indicating the required prerequisites and timeline for taking the courses and 4. Complete BSN within 5 years of start date
- Licensure: Licensed Registered Nurse or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state Registered Nurse license
- Experience : Minimum of two years of nursing experience
- Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association; if Critical Care Unit Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Upon Start; If Pediatric unit PALS within 6 months of hire
