Beacon Hill Financial is working with a non-profit in Rosslyn, VA to bring an experienced Senior GL Accountant to their team. This role plays a key part in ensuring the integrity of financial reporting and compliance with internal controls, GAAP, and grant-related accounting requirements. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in general ledger accounting and prior experience in the non-profit sector. Experience with Abila MIP is preferred. This role is based on a hybrid schedule and will require a few days on site a week.

• Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with GAAP and non-profit accounting standards.

  • Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations to support timely and accurate financial reporting.

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, annual audits, and 990 filings.

  • Support the financial management of grants, including reviewing grant agreements, setting up grant budgets in the accounting system, and ensuring proper coding of grant-related expenses.

  • Monitor grant expenditures for compliance with donor restrictions and reporting requirements; assist with preparation of financial reports to funders.

  • Collaborate with program and development staff to support grant proposal budgets and reporting deadlines.

  • Recommend and implement process improvements to strengthen internal controls and financial reporting.

Qualifications:

• Experience in the non-profit sector is highly preferred.

• Strong understanding of GAAP, fund accounting, and non-profit grant compliance requirements (e.g., federal or private grants).

• Experience with Abila MIP or similar non-profit accounting software is highly desirable.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong analytical skills.

• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a hybrid work environment with limited supervision.
