Job Title: Specialty Chemicals Plant Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled technician to efficiently operate a specialty chemicals plant focused on polymer production, utilized in plastics and water treatment facilities. The role requires working with powdered chemicals, operating plant machinery, and ensuring safe and environmentally sound operations.
Responsibilities
- Operate plant machinery and equipment, including opening and closing valves and monitoring instrumentation panels.
- Maintain safe and environmentally sound operations across the plant, including utilities, bulk storage, and warehouse.
- Handle 10-kilo bags and utilize basic math skills to track and monitor plant data.
- Perform repetitive tasks, remain stationary for extended periods, and operate a forklift.
- Climb ladders and work at elevated heights across four facility levels.
- Stay updated on operating procedures, emergency procedures, and safety policies.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management.
- Use forklifts, industrial scales, power tools, and hand tools to perform maintenance as needed.
- Troubleshoot minor maintenance defects; electrical experience is preferred.
Essential Skills
- Machine operation and mechanical functions.
- Ability to measure and perform quality checks.
- Experience with chemical or batch mixing.
- Capability in troubleshooting and handling mechanical equipment.
- Proficiency in chemical processing, blending, and handling.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous chemical experience is not required but preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing, ideally in process manufacturing.
- Experience in heavy industrial roles is ideal.
- Track record of perfect safety and no attendance issues.

Work Environment
Work in a highly technical, multi-level chemical plant that is partially air-conditioned. Be prepared for physical fitness requirements, exposure to dry chemicals, dust, noise, and fluctuating temperatures. Currently, the plant operates on 8-hour rotating shifts between the first and second shifts, with a future plan to implement a 'Lego Shift' schedule of 12-hour rotations.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Chesterfield, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
