Local CPA firm is seeking a highly motivated Payroll Specialist/bookkeeper to join our team for full time and year round employment. Selected candidates must be available to work some evenings and Saturday's, if business needs dictate

Responsibilities and Duties

· Prepare Payroll and payroll tax returns and make payroll tax payments

· Prepare Bookkeeping

· Prepare and assist with simple to complex tax returns for individuals and businesses.

· Perform tax research where appropriate.

· Perform all work in compliance with the firm's policies and procedures.

· Review information provided by clients and interviewers, as well as copies of previous tax returns, wage statements from employers and year-end interest and dividend summaries.

· Accurately prepare tax return work papers (business returns).

· Prepare and check tax returns, forms and schedules.

· Perform office duties as required and assist other staff members in other departments as needed

Requirements:

· BA/BS in Accounting or related field or related equivalent work experience in accounting.

· Knowledge of basic accounting concepts

· Basic tax return preparation but not required.

· Strong technical, analytical and organizational skills.

· Proficiency in Excel.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Excellent client service interaction, with an ability to handle pressure in a positive, professional manner.

· Available for work Monday through Friday, including some Saturday's/Sunday if business needs dictate.

Qualifications and Skills

· Experience with a public accounting firm preferred.

· Experience with ProSeries Tax software and QuickBooks preferred

· Work with office machines including fax, copier, printer and scanner.

· Work in a fast-paced and time-sensitive environment with frequent interruptions.

· Sit for extended periods of time.

· Type/enter data at a keyboard regularly.
