Surgical Reprocessing Systems Field Service Engineer
Imagine starting your day from home, checking your schedule on a mobile app, and heading to a major hospital where your expertise keeps surgeries on track. As a remote, customer-facing Field Service Engineer with STERIS, you’ll work independently in clinical environments while backed by a responsive technical and operations team.
You’ll troubleshoot, repair, and support installations for a broad range of complex mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic devices used in surgical workflows. This includes our flagship OEM portfolio—washers, sterilizers, ultrasonics, steam generators, and cart washers—spanning roughly 160 distinct models that form the historic backbone of STERIS.
A day in the life- Start with prioritized preventive maintenance, then pivot to service or warranty calls as needs arise.
- Diagnose and fix STERIS and competitor equipment using methodical troubleshooting and hands-on expertise.
- Complete equipment installations and field upgrade programs; document work to meet regulatory compliance using advanced digital tools.
- Collaborate with Tech Support, Engineering, and Service Contract Management to escalate complex issues swiftly.
- Present customers with findings, pricing, and repair pathways; partner with Sales to elevate customer experience and spot revenue opportunities.
- Travel within your territory to support multiple sites based on service agreements and customer demand.
If you come from HVAC, industrial maintenance, refrigeration, boilers/chillers, equipment repair, diesel/automotive, aviation maintenance, plumbing, or electrical trades, you’ll feel right at home.
Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED and 4+ years of professional experience, including 2+ years in a mechanical/technical role. An associate degree, relevant certifications, competitive equipment training, or related military experience may count toward the technical requirement.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to meet background and physical assessment elements necessary to obtain and maintain new and existing vendor credentialing; must remain compliant with hospital/customer credentialing standards.
- Strong customer and team engagement skills; clear written and verbal communication.
- Basic computer literacy (Windows/email, navigation, mobile apps) and accurate data entry across multiple systems.
- Flexibility for early/late hours and occasional overnight travel based on customer and business needs.

$65,000.00 – $75,000.00 base range . This position is eligible for a bonus. Minimum pay rates will comply with any higher county/city minimums. Final pay considers several factors, including local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, and foreign language fluency.
