EHS Safety Specialist – Manufacturing / Fabrication (Second Shift)
Location: Ruther Glen, VA
Schedule: 4:00 PM – 2:00 AM
Industry: Manufacturing / Fabrication
We are seeking two EHS Safety Specialists to support environmental, health, and safety operations within a manufacturing/fabrication facility in Ruther Glen, VA. This role is focused on OSHA general industry compliance, injury prevention, safety training, incident investigations, and supporting a strong safety culture on the production floor.
This opportunity is best suited for candidates with industrial, manufacturing, fabrication, production, warehouse, or plant safety experience. Candidates with public safety, law enforcement, EMS, or security-only backgrounds will not be a fit for this position.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with OSHA General Industry standards (29 CFR 1910) and company EHS policies
- Perform manufacturing floor safety audits, inspections, and hazard assessments
- Conduct incident investigations and root cause analysis; implement corrective actions
- Maintain OSHA recordkeeping and safety documentation
- Deliver employee safety training, onboarding, and PPE compliance programs
- Partner with operations and maintenance teams to reduce workplace hazards and improve safety performance
- Support Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Monitor fabrication and production processes for safe work practices
- Promote a proactive safety culture through employee engagement and coaching
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field with 2+ years of manufacturing or industrial safety experience
OR - High school diploma/GED with 5+ years of EHS or industrial safety experience in manufacturing, fabrication, production, warehouse, or heavy industrial environments
- OSHA General Industry experience in manufacturing, fabrication, production, or industrial environments
- Experience with safety audits, incident investigations, OSHA logs, and employee safety training
- Knowledge of industrial safety programs, PPE compliance, hazard recognition, and risk mitigation
- Ability to work onsite during second shift hours (4 PM – 2 AM)
- Manufacturing, fabrication, automotive, steel, industrial, or production facility experience
- OSHA 30 General Industry certification
- ASP or CSP certification
- Experience with behavior-based safety programs or continuous improvement initiatives
