Description:

Virginia State University (VSU) is seeking a Sr. Business Analyst (BA) to identify business needs, analyze data, and develop solution requirements to improve efficiency and productivity within the institution. 3 days onsite required

Information Technology Services (ITS) at Virginia State University (VSU) is seeking a Business Analyst (BA) to identify business needs, analyze data, and develop solution requirements to improve efficiency and productivity within the institution in close alignment with business strategies and goals. This position will play a key role in technology transformations and implementations across the University.

Key Responsibilities

• Requirements Documentation: Create detailed documentation of business requirements, processes, and solutions, including business process models and reports.
• Process Improvement: Evaluate current business processes and identify areas for improvement, proposing solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Testing and Validation: Participate in testing new systems and processes to ensure they meet business requirements and function as intended.
• Data Analysis: Gather, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends and insights that inform business decisions.

• Education: A bachelor s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred, but not required. A relevant Business Analyst certification (e.g., CBAP) is a plus.

Work Environment

• Reporting Structure: Reports to the Director of IT Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC).

Skills:

• 10 Years Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret data and generate actionable insights
• 10 Years Experience eliciting and documenting business requirements and/or user stories in Waterfall and Agile project environments
• 05 Years Experience developing business process models
• 05 Years Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey complex information to stakeholders
• 05 Years Proven ability to work independently with some guidance on assigned work product (Highly desired)
• 05 Years Extensive experience creating test plans and test cases (Highly desired)
• 05 Years Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage stakeholder expectations (Highly desired)
