Our client is an engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) services company supporting complex industrial and energy-sector projects. They work closely with utility and infrastructure clients, providing project execution, administrative oversight, and specialized management support across the full project lifecycle. Our client frequently partners with external agencies to supplement staffing needs for large-scale, time-bound projects.

Job Summary

The Commissioning Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all commissioning activities for plant systems and equipment, ensuring they meet design specifications, safety standards, and operational requirements. This role oversees testing, start-up and shutdown procedures, troubleshooting, and documentation while working closely with engineering, construction, and operations teams. The position also supports operations training, ensures regulatory compliance, and identifies opportunities to improve system performance, efficiency, and reliability during the commissioning phase.

Job Description

  • Develop a comprehensive commissioning plan and schedule, considering all aspects of the facility’s systems, equipment, and processes. Coordinate with various stakeholders, including engineering, construction, and operations teams, to ensure smooth execution of the commissioning activities.
  • Oversee the testing, inspection, and verification of all equipment and systems to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and industry regulations. This includes conducting functional tests, performance tests, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Develop and implement start-up and shutdown procedures for various systems, such as process units, utilities, and safety systems. Coordinate with operations personnel to ensure a safe and efficient transition from commissioning to normal plant operations.
  • Ensure that all commissioning activities adhere to safety protocols, procedures, and regulations. Identify potential hazards and implement appropriate safety measures to mitigate risks. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and promote environmentally responsible practices during the commissioning process.
  • Maintain accurate records of all commissioning activities, including test results, equipment performance data, and any deviations from specifications. Generate reports and provide regular updates to project management and relevant stakeholders regarding the progress and status of commissioning activities.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues and operational problems that may arise during the commissioning process. Collaborate with engineering teams and vendors to address equipment malfunctions, process inefficiencies, or other performance issues.
  • Provide training and support to operations personnel to ensure a smooth transition from commissioning to plant operations. Prepare
  • comprehensive commissioning handover documents, including operating procedures, maintenance requirements, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost reduction during the comm and projects.
  • Propose and implement changes or modifications to enhance the overall performance and reliability of the plant.

Skills Required

  • 15 – 20 years plant commissioning and operations experience with focus on wastewater treating and RNG processing
  • Experience with renewable natural gas and wastewater processing is desirable
  • Ability to work with engineering, construction, and plant operations teams
  • Intense focus on health, safety, and environmental compliance
  • Good verbal and written communications skills.

Education/Training/Certifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is preferred

 

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to have even ground, ladders, and staircases
  • Physically able to spend greater than 50% of work hours outside of the construction office

 

 

Pay Rate/Salary

  • Pay Rate $80/hr (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
