Master's degree in Occupational Therapy, active Occupational Therapist license and 1+ year of Occupational Therapy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This position offers a contract opportunity for an Occupational Therapist (OT) licensed in Virginia to support students from Kindergarten through 12th grade within a school setting. The role involves working approximately 37.5 hours per week over 5 days, spanning the 26/27 school year. The therapist will be assigned to 2-3 different school locations within Newport News, VA, providing valuable OT services to a diverse student population.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver occupational therapy assessments, interventions, and supports tailored to K-12 students
- Collaborate with educators, parents, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Monitor and document student progress and outcomes, adjusting services as needed
- Utilize evidence-based practices to enhance students functional abilities and academic success
- Travel between assigned school locations as required
Qualifications:
- Current Virginia OT license is mandatory
- Experience in school-based occupational therapy preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt therapy techniques to a wide range of student needs and grade levels
